Join us for our sermon series: OPERATION GOSPEL

The Gospel message of Jesus is not simply a two thousand year old story. Like a well-orchestrated military rescue and recovery operation, the gospel of Jesus is God’s eternal plan for the restoration and salvation of the world. It is a carefully crafted, perfectly timed, and expertly executed plan that encompasses all of time and space, including here and now. Like any good plan it makes use of all the available resources, that includes you and me. The Gospel is the power of God which transforms death to life, defeat into victory and sinners into saints. So, join us as we explore how God’s 'Operation Gospel' plan is playing out in our lives and the world today.

Revised edition of Luther's Large Catechism

"These new editions reveal an increasing awareness that the translation of a text must not only be accurate, but also appropriate to the character and style of the original. This is of particular importance for the translation of Luthers catechisms, which were after all written for the benefit of children and ordinary people, as Luther puts it in his Preface to the Large Catechism in 1529, and which were based on his sermon series on the catechism in Wittenberg. Luthers German is direct and colourful. It flows from his pen with dynamism, reflecting the living situation of the preacher addressing a congregation. Luther is not afraid to use the occasional colloquialism, or even to disregard the normal rules of grammar. Some sentences suddenly change direction, and thoughts are not always completed. Often a variety of ideas crowd in on one another within a single sentence. Above all, Luther is inventive and authentic, as far as linguistic expression is concerned." - Author, Friedemann Hebart

Music for the journey

We are all travellers on the journey of life ...

The paths we travel don't always look the same. Some are smooth and straight, others are winding and bumpy. But no matter what type of road we find ourselves on, Jesus meets us along the way. He invites us to walk with him from wherever we are at, to places we never imagined possible.

"Fellow travellers, let these songs inspire you on your journey as you meet the one who alone can illuminate your path with certainty and hope for eternity."

Travellers are a five member band from Sydney, Australia with a passion for helping people to have honest conversations with God and travel deeper in their personal relationship with Jesus.

You can buy HOPE ALIVE on CD for $14.99 (AUD) from Australian Christian Resources HERE.

Grow course - How can they hear?

Have you felt the nudge of the Spirit to share God’s word with a group of people? Would you like to know how to read the text, understand the text and build a bridge for people to also understand God’s Word?

Would you like to explore whether God is calling you and preparing you to publicly share his Word?

Then register for “How can they hear…”

Over a series of nine weeks, we’ll explore how to go from reading the Word, to understanding the text, and then presenting it in a way that the Holy Spirit uses to encourage, strengthen and grow his people. You will even get an opportunity to write and present a sermon in front of a small group of people who will be cheering you on!

Join us in person at Epping or online, Thursdays at 7.30pm. Please RSVP (register) if you plan to attend.

July's walk

For our July walk, we will do the Bantry Bay Loop on Sunday 10th July meeting at 1pm.

It's about 6.5km / 3hrs, with a decent hill to climb in the middle, starting and ending at Seaforth Oval (see map attached). The traffic can be heavy on a Sunday afternoon, so allow plenty of time to get there. Meet in the Seaforth Oval car park, off Wakehurst Parkway.

If you'd like to attend, or for more information, contact John Klingberg: [email protected]

Today's verse & thought to ponder ...

JUL

ROMANS 6:20-22

When you were slaves to sin,you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
