DEUTERONOMY 6:5-6

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.

TO PONDER

Today's message is pretty clear don't you think?  "Love the Lord with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength"

A few things strike me about this passage. We are not instructed to Love God with the remainder of our hearts after we've loved our partners and families.  Neither are we instructed to love God with any strength that we have left-over at the end of a busy day in a busy and crazy world.

We are to love God with ALL of our heart, soul and strength!  No half measures here. A fully blown 100% commitment is the ask of us.

"These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts."

A couple more observations if I may.  Firstly, if these commandments are to be on our hearts, we are to live them daily and to do this they must be engrained into our DNA. They must be a part of us.  Not something that we sparingly choose to acknowledge and demonstrate when it suits us.

Additionally, note that these commandments are being given to us today.  Not in five minutes time, not next week or in two months, but today!  Today is NOW and interestingly, if we think about it, in five minutes time, next week or in two months time - as each one of these time durations tick-over - it will also be NOW!  NOW is the time to act on these commands, and we must continue to keep acting on them.

Have you made a total commitment to offering your whole being and life to God and loving Him every day?

We are to devote our lives – ALL our heart, ALL our soul and ALL our strength to loving our God and Saviour. The one who has freed us from sin and death and who promises us eternal life with Him in Heaven when we are called from this earth.  To do this daily (that's everyday) will certainly bring us closer to Jesus.

PRAYER:God of absolute unwavering commitment. Your love for me cannot be disputed given You sent your Son, Jesus to earth to die for me and save me from my sins. Help me as much as it is humanly possible, to reciprocate this love to You with ALL of my heart, soul and strength. In your loving name I pray.  Amen
