DEUTERONOMY 30:16

For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

TO PONDER

With every new “adventure” in life, there are always changes, and these changes – whether large or small – usually come with growing pains. I was into my early 50’s at a stage when my world seemed to be falling apart.  God opened the door for me to be able to do a special course where I could teach (which had been a dream of mine since early childhood), not just here in Australia, but overseas. The beginning of more growing pains.  A strange country, strange food (pig embryos for one), different rules to learn, a different language, not knowing a soul, finding my way around, learning to travel on the back of a motor bike – side saddle sometimes when I wore a dress for teaching, and earning the respect of those I was working with and teaching, and finding my place in a very different society.  But, God made a promise and he has never let me down yet. “ ….. then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess”.  He opened doors, which at the time seemed impossible. With God in our lives, we can overcome the most difficult “growing pains”, if we love the Lord our God, learn to walk in obedience and to keep his commands, decrees and laws.

What growing pains are you facing or have you faced in the past? How has/did God help you overcome them?

PRAYER: Lord God, I thank you that you are always there, that your promises are always kept, and for the many doors you have opened on my ‘adventure’ with you. Help me to find contentment, happiness, and acceptance in you, and to recognise your wonderful blessing even in the experience of ‘growing pains’.  Amen
