No Other Life

There are days in our lives which are difficult

There are occasions in our lives that are confusing

There are times in our lives we'd rather forget.

There are moments that are simply unbelievable

But not today.

There are days when the darkness surrounds us

And the night appears to be endless

But not today

Because today is a sunrise that resurrects It all

Today is a light that breaks every darkness

And shines brighter than any sun

Today is a day like no other

Because the tomb that once held the body of Jesus

Is now, by the power of God, empty.

Today the stones that hold life at bay are rolled away

Today the staleness of decay meets God's breath

And new life springs forth.

Love has won Death is defeated  Peace is real

Today the unbelievable is believable,

the impossible is possible

Because Jesus lives.

Bible Readings

19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ,

20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.  21 This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. 21Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. 23But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.

24 I am glad when I suffer for you in my body, for I am participating in the sufferings of Christ that continue for his body, the church. 25 God has given me the responsibility of serving his church by proclaiming his entire message to you. 26 This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. 27 For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too.  And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words.

9 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. 11 But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

No Other King

What's the colour of your bus? Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Blue and Orange? What placards are you waving? What team are you getting behind? That's the question that will be on everyone's lips over the next six weeks as we head to the polls to elect the next Prime Minister. Who is best to lead our country? Who will bring peace and prosperity to the nation? Who is best placed to serve us as we wrestle with all the global and personal issues we face? How committed are you to supporting the cause? The questions are not new. It's the very question that disciples of Jesus were confronted with back then and the very questions we need to address ourselves as we begin this Holy Week. Whose cause will you commit to and back? Whose placard will you wave high? Whose campaign feels like a threat for you? Which King will you follow? The stakes are high and the ramifications eternal. Today Jesus steps up the journey that by the end of the week will demonstrate that there is no other King.
