Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.”
Sometimes our lives can feel like they are in ruins. We make plans, we set goals, we have dreams, but things don’t work out. We are then left disappointed, disillusioned and in despair. We can feel lost and vulnerable, like a city without a wall of protection. The promise for us however is that our lives are never in ruins, there is always hope! Jesus is our hope, and no matter the circumstances his protection, comfort and strength remain and are available to us. Jesus wants us to cry out to him and receive his free gifts of hope, faith and love, especially in times of ruin and despair.
Jesus, thank you that you provide me with protection and strength. Help me to call out to you in my times of trouble. Thank you that no matter what I am going through I have hope, because you are with me and nothing is too overwhelming for you. Amen.
