MATTHEW 6:1

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

TO PONDER

In this modern world of social media, society encourages us to put our lives on display for all to see to elicit love, likes and comments from those around us. What’s the point in charity if no one sees it? What’s the point in generosity if no-one can acknowledge or like it!  But as Jesus reminds us here, everything we do should be motivated out of a love for God and how we reflect his character in our everyday living.  It’s not trying to impress others by what we do, but to honour God whose generosity, kindness, and love has changed us.  As you begin this week, check your heart and ask yourself, what motivates what you do? The applause of the world, or the applause of heaven?

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, may everything I do today honour you and give people a glimpse of your love for them. Amen.
