ECCLESIASTES 3:11

 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet^[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

TO PONDER

Do you ever feel there must be something more? The things that you worked so hard for, that you thought would give you fulfillment leave you feeling empty. If you identify with any of these you are not alone. We are all longing for fulfillment, for a hole to be filled in our lives, but we continually choose the wrong things. As the writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us, eternity has been set within our hearts. On some level we all know that this is not our eternal home, we are not supposed to be totally fulfilled and comfortable here, we are made to long for eternity, our forever home with our Heavenly Father. So, rather than reaching for earthly things to fulfill us, we should fix our hearts and minds on heavenly things, and wait with anticipation and excitement for our eternal reward, that will come in God’s beautiful timing.

PRAYER: Jesus, help me to fix my heart and mind on heavenly things, the gifts you have given me and the fulfilment I receive each day in knowing I am your child. Keep my eyes focused on the eternal glory I will enjoy one day with you, Amen.
